The Day of the Lord

March 12, 2012

My post about the day of the Lord is no longer available at Blogger, so I want to remind everyone about this very important Bible concept because it is so helpful in understanding what is going on in the world.

Briefly, the day of the Lord* is a representation of the manifestation of the kingdom of God in the world.  It dawned 2000 years ago when Jesus Christ, the bright Morning Star, was raised from the dead, ascended far above all heavens, was glorified and sat down with His Father on his throne; the Holy Spirit was given to His church in His Name and it has been advancing around the earth from east to west like the sun ever since.  Jesus referred to this in the Gospel:

“Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”  (Matthew 24:26,27 NKJV)

God told Paul in three different ways to go west into Macedonia when his intention was to go east toward Asia.  All maps of his journeys show him going ever farther west, but never east, of the Jerusalem meridian.

Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them. (Acts 16:6-10 NKJV)

Now it is dawning in the far east, which is why China is ascendant, but America has gone into a dark age.  Jesus Christ said, The Long Night has just begun.  Jerusalem will hear the gospel twice, in the morning and evening.  From the rising of the sun to the setting of the same, the name of the Lord is to be praised.  When the gospel has been preached in all nations, then the end will come.

If never a missionary went forth, the Great Commission would still result on schedule.  God makes everything beautiful in its time.
